OVERCOME THE BATTLE WITHIN...
GENRE: Drama, Family
SUBJECT MATTER: Spiritual Warfare, Hope, Suffering, Redemption, Pride, Confusion, Hopelessness, Deception, Voices of good and evil, Friends
INTRODUCTION: Each one of us experience a battle between good and evil. We have so many voices that are pulling us in different directions. It’s up to you and me to know and discern the voice of Christ compared to the disguised voices. You may be following the voice of Christ, or you may be following the voice disguised to sound like Christ. John 10:27 says this: 27 “ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me,[a] is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” Which voice are you choosing to listen to today? Eternal life or Temporal Satisfaction?
(How to teach using FABL Films)
LARGE GROUP or SMALL GROUP:
We encourage Student Pastors to take control when presenting each film. Based on your needs, you will want to figure out what is the best setting to show a FABL film. Whether its your organizations Weekend service, a Mid-week study group, home group, disciple now, camp, retreat, etc. FABL films are designed to be used across all audience sizes.
FULL-LENGTH MOVIE or EPISODIC:
Show the entire film in one meeting, or you can use FABL episodes. Each film varies in length, and the number of episodes, so keep that in consideration. We have found both to be powerful, but episodic has its advantages. The students have time to think about the movie in parts, to discuss with friends, and this creates anticipation for the next episode.
USE THE FABL GUIDE:
The FABL guide is broken down for you based on whether you want to do small group breakouts with discussion questions, or if you want to show the entire film and then deliver a message. Small groups: we provide a breakdown of each episode and 5-7 discussion questions. For Large groups, we provide an example message to help you present each film.

FABL FAQ's ANSWERED:
WHAT ARE FABL FILMS?
Simply put, they are entertaining films meant to engage your students. Don’t think of them as films that “close the deal”. They aren’t meant to be preachy. They are illustrations. FABL films are intended to be used as a teaching tool that sets up a theme or idea, for example: “How do we live life to the fullest?” “What happens when we let tragedy and suffering define who we are?”. FABL films are meant to help engage your current students, as well as draw in new ones.
HOW IS FABL DIFFERENT?
One of our biggest objectives is to engage the students without getting eye-rolls. We focus on telling good stories that have natural, organic exploration of spiritual themes.
DO FABL FILMS PRESENT THE GOSPEL?
We love movies that have an overt Gospel message and are glad they exist. That being said, FABL takes a different approach. These films aren’t intended to play in a theatre. They are meant to be played in the context of a group or event where they can be explained and explored. Which, we hope, leads to a presentation of the Gospel from a leader or pastor. Some of our films might present the Gospel as a metaphor, some might just ask thought provoking questions. They are meant to challenge the students to think.
HOW ARE FABL FILMS BEST UTILIZED?
We’ve designed these films to be used in a variety of ways. Whether it’s a small group or large group, you can decide how it fits best for your group. For a large group, show the entire movie and then teach from the outline. Or break it up into episodes over a camp or retreat. For small groups, you can show the movie in full, or use the episodes. Then use the discussion questions in the FABL GUIDE and see where the Lord leads the discussion. We’ve seen first hand how powerful a tool these films can be for engaging students. Real life, real talk.
ARE THESE FILMS RATED?
These films are not rated by the MPAA, but each film comes with general advisory. We highly recommend watching the films before presenting to your students.. There will never be any language or overt sexual content.
